Transfer procedure for .com/.net/.org-domain names
If it is desired to transfer a .com/.net/.org domain name from one registrar (the registrar is the company that bills you for the domain fee) to us, please notice that the procedure is slightly different than the one used for .dk domains.
Unfortunately the practical procedure is different, depending on how the domain is currently registered, so the following procedure is very general:
1)
Contact the current registrar and inquire on what procedures they use and possible security measures that you as customer need to be aware of. For instance, in some cases a signed form must be mailed, by post, before a registrar will acknowledge a transfer. And in other cases a simple email is enough.
Tiscali customers must assure them self’s, that the email address that Tiscali registered the domain under as being the administrative email, must still be active and that it is possible to read the incoming emails. Otherwise there is no way around contacting Tiscali customer support, and get them to change the email address to an active one.
2)
Inform us that you have prepared the transfer of the domain name with the current registrar. This means that we can start the transfer process with the top level domain controller.
IMPORTANT:
It is not a good idea to skip step 1) - if the current registrar rejects the transfer because of wrong procedures, it will typically take 10 working days before a new attempt can be made (the domain is simply locked as a security measure). In another case a well prepared transfer can often be done in 2-3 working days.
3)
When we start the transfer a email will be sent from our international registrar (Melbourne IT / INWW), where you will be asked to verify the transfer on a website linked to in the email. By clicking the button on the website you verify that you have asked us to start the transfer.
4)
Following step 3) there is typically two scenarios: Either your current registrar handles the transfer on the basis of the form you have signed, or all further contact will be forwarded from the current international registrar directly to you.
Again it is very important that you verify the transfer to the current international registrar - otherwise they might deny the transfer.
5)
When the transfer is confirmed by both the new and old registrar there will typically be a 5-8 working day delay before the domain is completely transferred to the domain services on our servers.
