Can I offer anonumous FTP access to my visitors?
Anonumous FTP was prevously a widely used method for giving visitors the ability to download large files – for example pdf dokuments, packages with program demos or similar.
Today you would often supply a link to the file directly from the website instead, primarily because the still better data connection, improved web browsers and highly advanced download managers (GetRight, GoZilla, etc.) have minimized the need to resume a disconnected file transfer – and that was really the only real advantage FTP had over standard HTTP transfers.
